The National Open Squad

The following divers met the national squad selection criteria and are part of the National Open Squad for 2013/2014:

Fong Kay YianFONG Kay Yian (18 Years Old) 

Event: 3m Springboard/3m Synchronised Springboard/Synchronised Platform

FONG Kay Yian switched to diving at the age of 13 in 2009 after she sustained a wrist injury which put her out of gymnastics. As the current national 3m springboard champion, Kay Yian has not looked back since. She came in 4th in 7th AASF Asian Age Group Championships in 2011 and has won medals in regional competitions. in 2013, Kay Yian was crowned champion in the 5th AASF Asian Diving Cup and paired with Myra Lee to win Bronze in the Synchronised 3m Springboard event at the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar.

Kay Yian transferred to the Singapore Sports School in 2012 and is targeted to represent Singapore in 2014 Asian Games and 2015 SEA Games.


Myra LeeMyra LEE (20 Years Old) 

Event: 3m Springboard/3m Synchronised Springboard

Myra LEE switched to diving from gymnastics in 2009 at the age of 15, in hope of representing Singapore at the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, and she did, in the platform event. Myra has since switched to 3m springboard and she also formed a synchronised 3m partnership with Kay Yian, winning the Bronze Medal at the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar. Myra also came in 4th in the individual 3m event at the Games, scoring a Personal Best.

Myra is currently an undergraduate in Singapore Management University.


Mark LeeTimothy LEE (20 years old) 

Event: 3m Springboard/Synchronised 3m Springboard/Synchronised Platform

Timothy started diving in 2009, after switching from Gymnastics at the age of 15. He represented Singapore at the Youth Olympic Games in 2010 and competed against the likes of Tom Daley and Qiu Bo (current world champion). Most notably, Timothy took bronze in 4th Asian Diving Cup 2011, behind powerhouses China and Malaysia.

Timothy forms a formidable pairing with his twin brother, Mark in synchronised 3m springboard and synchronised platform. They took silver in the 7th AASF Asian Age Group Championships and bronze in the 4th Asian Diving Cup in 2011, and have represented Singapore in the Asian Swimming Championships in 2012.

At the 27th SEA Games 2013 in Myanmar, Timothy came in 2nd in the Synchronised 3m springboard and 3rd in the synchronised platform together with Mark Lee. Timothy also took 4th position in the individual 3m event.

As an SJI old boy, Timothy won the SJI Sportsman of the year 2010. He is currently a Singapore Polytechnic student.


Timothy LeeMark LEE (20 years old) 

Event: 3m Springboard/ 3m Synchronised Springboard

Mark LEE started diving in Jan 2011 after retiring from Gymnastics. He forms a 3m Synchronised Springboard & Platform partnership with twin brother Timothy and has taken silver in the 7th AASF Asian Age Group Championships and bronze in the 4th Asian Diving Cup in 2011, and have represented Singapore in the Asian Swimming Championships in 2012.

At the 27th SEA Games 2013 in Myanmar, Mark created history by winning Singapore’s first diving medals in 28 years, since 1985. He won Silver in the individual 3m springboard event. Mark also came in 2nd in the Synchronised 3m springboard and 3rd in the synchronised platform together with Timothy Lee.

Mark, an SJI old boy,  is currently studying at Republic Polytechnic.


Jonathan ChanJonathan CHAN (17 Years Old)

Event: Platform

Jonathan CHAN switched to diving from gymnastics at the age of 12 years old and he has not looked back since. He represented Singapore at Asian Youth Games and in 2013 and came in a commendable 5th and 6th position in the 3m springboard and platform events respectively. He is targeted for the 2014 YOG & 2015 SEA Games.

Jonathan is currently in year 5 at ACS (Independent).
